Croydon’s vast range of restaurants, while the bars and clubs attract tens of thousands of visitors every weekend. That’s entertainment The arts thrive in Croydon, with renowned concert venue Fairfield Halls, home of the world famous London Mozart Players, just one act in our show. Many up and coming writers from around the world get their break at the Warehouse Theatre and there is no excuse for missing any of the latest movie releases thanks to two multiscreen cinema complexes – one in the heart of town. For a more intimate film experience there is the David Lean Cinema, named after the local-born Oscar-winning director and part of the Croydon Clocktower complex – described by experts as the ‘jewel’ in our arts crown. Apart from the award-winning central library – one of 14 in the borough – it is home to a live performance space, exhibition hall, café and museum. For those who prefer their entertainment outdoors, don’t miss Croydon’s famous Summer Festival in Lloyd Park, which combines a world music extravaganza with a huge Mela featuring top Asian artists. If it all makes you want to get up there yourself then go for it – there are countless local drama and music groups to get involved with. One foot in the past The interactive Museum of Croydon in the Clocktower, a hands-on look at how the town has changed, is by no means the only way to get a glimpse of the town’s illustrious past.
