The campaign, which entered its public phase with a gala kickoff in early April, now totals more than $174 million or about 70 percent of the goal. In addition, it already has attracted two of the largest gifts in university history: $15 million from the Amon G. Carter Foundation and $8 million from alumnus Paul Andrews and his wife Judy. “All gifts to The Campaign for TCU support the vision of creating a world-class, values-centered university experience for our students,” says Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. There have been 35 gifts of $1 million or more since the leadership phase of the campaign was launched on June 1, 2005. A total of 66,022 gifts have been made by 24,590 donors. Campaign contributions have funded priorities in every school and college, as well as universitywide initiatives. Fueling a campus transformation The campaign is helping t o under w r i t e a campus transformation with facilities such as the Mabee Foundation Education Complex; four new Campus Commons residence halls; the Brown-Lupton University Union; Scharbauer Hall, a new academic facility; and the Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility & Cox Field. Raising the academic profile Donors have committed some $41 million for academic programs and faculty support, including 12 new endowed chairs and professorships. About $20 million has been directed toward endowed scholarships. The Annual Fund, which has raised about $19 million, further benefits scholarships and academic programs, among other needs. Enhancing the university experience The Amon G. Ca r ter Foundation has made three campaign gifts that enhance the university experience. The $15 million gift is directed toward upgrades of 78-year-old Amon G. Carter Stadium that will support the “big-time” Division I athletic experience, while another gift was directed toward the Dutch Meyer Athletic Complex & Abe Martin Academic Enhancement Center. The foundation also made a multimillion-dollar campaign gift to underwrite Amon G. Carter Hall, one of four new residence halls in the Campus Commons that are transforming the residential experience. Boosting academics A gift of $8 million from Paul and Judy Andrews will make a strong impact on TCU’s academic mission.
